A History of Excellence: Our Legacy
Roanoke Motors Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram was known simply as Roanoke Motors when Mel Rocke bought and renamed an existing franchise in 1956. Mel, a local farmer, saw this dealership as an opportunity to combine his passion for automobiles with serving his community. This passion laid the foundation for the dealership's customer-centric approach and family-friendly culture. For Mel, it was important that every customer feel at home, trusting his dealership and team with all their automotive needs.
Roanoke Motors officially became a family business when Mel's son Dennis joined the dealership. During this time, a young John Gastman was hired in the wash rack and worked his way up in the business, discovering his knack for sales and service. Mel sold the dealership to Dennis and John in 1984, marking a new chapter for Roanoke Motors.
Like Mel and Dennis' father-son partnership, John's son Matt joined the family business; he bought in as a partner in 2000 and has taken the dealership to new heights. Today, Roanoke Motors Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is one of several dealerships in the family, sharing the spotlight with Roanoke Ford and Lincoln Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
