We’re in interesting times when it comes to the auto industry—there’s a tremendous amount of uncertainty right now as things shift and change. These changes and new demands for different ways to drive are altering what we expect from vehicles and transforming what car companies are delivering. Even legendary models like the Dodge Charger, the quintessential king of American muscle, are not exempt from these changes and new things coming to market. If you’re interested in the Dodge Charger for sale that you’ll be able to find in the next couple of years, what you discover will be quite different from what was offered just a few years ago. Gone is the legendary HEMI V8; instead, you’ll find the powerful new twin-turbocharged Hurricane I-6, which means this is an incredible time to look at the future of the Charger.

What a Difference a Year Makes

Some people were concerned when Dodge announced that the Charger would skip the 2024 model year, going from 2023 to an all-new version coming in 2025—we weren’t worried, but the auto industry can be a tricky place, so we understand why others were. With its return for the 2025 model year, the Charger is better than ever before, with more options than we expected and plenty to get excited about. For starters, you now have two body styles to choose from: the four-door version that we’ve gotten used to is joined by a two-door model that takes the place of the much-loved Dodge Challenger.

We think this is an incredibly smart and nuanced approach to the modern Dodge lineup; while we can see the Challenger making a return in the next couple of years as a smaller option, having two body styles for the Charger is a great way to make a wide range of drivers happy. With its redesign for a new generation, the Charger looks fantastic and has the kinds of lines and overall styling that we’ve come to expect from this muscle car. It’s distinctly modern but also unmistakable for what it is, which is exactly what we hoped to see from this next-generation model.

At the heart of this new generation of the Charger is its engine, but before we dig into that, let’s look at what we’ve left behind. The 2023 Charger started with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with up to 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque, which was also available in the Challenger. Numerous other engines were offered on the 2023 model, including several HEMI V8 options. These started with a 5.7L HEMI V8 producing 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. The remarkable 6.4L HEMI V8 engine tops out at 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque for the 2023 model year, which perfectly showcases the kind of muscle and aggressive power Dodge has long been known for.

Incredible Power Ready to Take You Further

Looking at the all-new Charger, perhaps the most exciting aspect of it is that it’s getting two powerful versions of the new Hurricane engine that’s also making the rounds at Jeep and Ram. This is the new standard for incredible power in Stellantis vehicles that’s replacing the legendary HEMI V8 in these lineups. It might seem like heresy to some to replace a V8 with something that only has six cylinders, but once you see what it can do, it’s clear that Dodge knows what it is doing. In particular, the turbocharged performance and impressive engineering that has gone into this version of the Hurricane make it a worthy successor.

So far, Dodge hasn’t released all of the info on what this all-new Charger will be able to do, but the early word we’re seeing has us chomping at the bit to learn more. Known as the Dodge Charger SIXPACK, this new generation features a 3.0L twin-turbo I-6 Hurricane engine that delivers power far beyond what you’d expect from that brief description. Dodge will offer two versions of this model with different tuning on the engine: a standard output model will get 420 hp while a high-output version goes even further with an incredible 550 hp. You read that right: Dodge has coaxed 550 hp from a 3.0L six-cylinder engine, and this is exactly the kind of forward-looking engineering that we had hoped to see.

To help you maintain control over all of this power, Dodge has also talked about massive 16-inch Brembo vented brakes. This would include six-piston front and four-piston rear fixed calipers to ensure you can slow and stop as accurately as you need to. Considering all the power roaring to life under the hood of this monster, we’re happy to see that it won’t take a miracle to keep it under control. We don’t find any of this surprising, however, because it’s exactly what we’ve come to expect with Dodge’s legendary performance. A year off has given the brand time to make a new and improved Charger to set a new standard for American muscle.

More Features and Gorgeous Amenities

Of course, the Hurricane engines aren’t the only new features for the Dodge Charger. On the outside, you’ll find a standard widebody design for every model, with the wheels pushed out as far as possible, creating an incredibly aggressive stance and fantastic traction when you unleash this beast. If you’re looking to get the most from this monster, then it seems you’ll be able to choose 305 front and 325 rear Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3 tires. This staggered setup further enhances the performance of the Charger to keep you in control at all times and showcases the incredible power under its hood.

The new Charger that Dodge has shown off so far has a shape and form that’s both iconic and futuristic. You can see a new squared-off silhouette and bold front end, reminiscent of Charger models from the 1960s and 1970s, along with numerous uses of an illuminated Fratzog logo. That’s the perfect example of Dodge’s focus on overall design for the Charger—even as it moves into the future, the brand hasn’t forgotten where it came from.

Inside, Dodge has shown off a stunning interior designed to surround you with beautiful elegance to go along with all of that raw muscle. The clean look and lines of the interior are both stylish and functional, with available features like Attitude Adjustment Lighting that surrounds you in the kind of environment you’ll look forward to each day. You’ll be able to choose Black or Demonic Red leather-trimmed seating along with available options like a 16-inch Digital Cluster Display and a 12.3-inch Center Display with the latest Uconnect 5 software. All of this comes together to create an incredible driving experience beyond anything else on the road, which is exactly what we’ve come to expect.

Are You Ready for the Charger’s Future?

We’ve heard a lot of uncertainty about how the Dodge lineup will grow and evolve in the future, which is understandable given the world we live in. Now that we’re getting a taste of what’s to come, however, we have no doubts or concerns about where Dodge’s designers and engineers are taking their vehicles. The all-new, next-generation Charger is a work of art that beautifully combines the raw power and muscle we’ve come to expect with the sophisticated interior details and features that we always hope for. This is the kind of muscle car that you’ll enjoy driving each day, making it perfect for everything life throws at you. The future looks bright for Dodge, and the best part of it is that the brand is only getting started—we can’t wait to see what it comes up with next!
