More buyers look to Ram as the brand to trust when it comes to trucks that can accomplish the most difficult tasks and facilitate the daily workload. Ram has been a symbol of prowess and capability since it separated from the Dodge brand in 2010 to refocus its efforts on providing the best trucks in the class. Here at Roanoke Motors Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we’re proud purveyors of the Ram brand and a Ram dealer that you can always count on to assist you in choosing the right truck.

For the monumental tasks many drivers have on their plates, the 2024 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 are high-end heavy-duty trucks. Choosing the right cab, engine, and other specific features will allow you to accomplish tasks that other drivers might think are impossible. Today, we’ll give you the necessary information to assist you in making the best choice.

Start Your Engines!

Choosing the right engine is essential to getting the most out of your 2024 Ram 2500 or Ram 3500. Three engines provide performance that truly breaks the mold. Which one works best for you? Let’s find out.

6.4L HEMI V8: The first of the three available engines bears a legendary name. The gasoline 6.4L HEMI V8 produces a dependable 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. The HEMI V8 is available on both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500.

6.7L Cummins Turbo-Diesel: Unlocking more in the realm of performance is possible through the available Cummins turbo-diesel. Available on both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500, this engine’s 370 hp and ability to generate an impressive 850 lb-ft of torque can make any job easy to accomplish.

6.7L High-Output Cummins Turbo-Diesel: Exclusive to the Ram 3500 HD, this option, with its 420 hp and ability to generate a jaw-dropping 1,075 lb-ft of torque, is what unlocks the 37,090 lb maximum towing capability of the 2024 Ram 3500.

A Cab By Any Other Name…

As with many other pickup trucks, the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 are available in various cab configurations. Choosing the right cab can make all the difference depending on how you plan to use your Ram and how much interior room you want.

Both the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 are available in three different cab styles: Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab. The Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 with a Regular cab come with an eight-foot pickup bed that supports 74.7 cu.ft. of cargo space. The Crew Cab can be outfitted with an eight-foot bed or a 6.4-foot bed that offers 57.5 cu.ft. of room. The Mega Cab is exclusively paired with the 6.4-foot bed. Maximum payload varies, with the 2024 Ram 2500 supporting up to 4,000 lbs and the Ram 3500 being able to carry up to 7,680 lbs.

Mechanical Supplements

There are multiple trims of the 2024 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500, including the Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. As is the case with any vehicle, some items will come standard across the board, whereas others are available as add-ons or as part of a package. Now that we’ve established the powertrains and cab configurations for the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500, we’ll go over the various items that accentuate the advantages of these two trucks.

All trims of both trucks have a host of standard items that make handling any job much more efficient. Trailer Sway Damping, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Hill-Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control, and Ready-Alert Braking are among these standard features. These attributes are essential for trailering and other occupational obligations.

Drivers who want to utilize their truck to facilitate their next off-roading adventure will want to opt for the Rebel or Power Wagon. However, both of these rugged options are only available on the Ram 2500, not the Ram 3500. Both trims come with skid plates and specialized shocks designed by the experts at Bilstein to aid in the rough and tumble world off the beaten path, but the Power Wagon includes additional features, like locking front and rear differentials.

Interior and Technology

Ram trucks have earned a reputation in recent years for having interiors that are sophisticated in their design. Performance aside, the interior is where you can expect to spend most of your time. Depending on your penchant and preferences for comfort and technology, there’s a Ram ideally suited for you.

The Tradesman and Big Horn trims come standard with manual temperature control, but all other trims have dual-zone automatic temperature control. Depending on the level of comfort you want, the seats in your Ram truck can be equipped with different materials. Base trims come with cloth or premium cloth, while upper trims have leather-trimmed seats with available heating and ventilation to make every morning a comfortable one, regardless of the weather outside.

An essential component of any vehicle interior is having proper access to the various apps and technologies the modern driver uses daily. Ram equips its trucks with cutting-edge technology to provide access to the necessary items in our increasingly digital world. These are accessed via an infotainment screen that’s powered by Uconnect, a comprehensive and user-friendly software suite that serves as a gateway to multiple features.

The standard screen is five inches and includes Uconnect 3. The next size up is an 8.4-inch system with Uconnect 5 that offers available built-in navigation. Drivers who wish for a truly immersive and engaging infotainment experience can opt for a 12-inch screen with Uconnect 5 Nav for better clarity and enhanced efficiency.

Audio options also vary by trim, with the base Tradesman having a four-speaker setup. A six-speaker setup is standard on the Big Horn, Rebel, and Power Wagon, with the top trims receiving a nine-speaker system with a subwoofer for the very best in audio quality.

Several items can also be added to enhance the driving experience further. These include multiple camera views for those who do a lot of towing and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop for highway driving. With so many items added to the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500, you can have a truck that has it all and can do it all.
